Digital receipts available to air passengers in Dec.1 2024

Digital travel receipts were offered in the civil aviation passenger transport services on December 1 in China, according to a joint statement issued by three regulators.

Travelers, who completes their air travel in up to 180 days can access to their digital receipts on airlines’ official websites, mobile apps or customer service hotlines. Corporate clients can also retrieve their receipts through tax service platforms to manage VAT deductions and other accounting tasks.

A dual system set in a 10-month transition from Dec 1 to Sept 30 next year, both paper and electronic receipts will be available to travelers and businesses for reimbursements if needed. However, either digital or paper-printed receipts are available for a transaction, in regard to preventing duplicate claims, according to the statement issued by the State Taxation Administration, the Ministry of Finance, and the Civil Aviation Administration of China.
